Vantin
Vantin (generic name: Cefpodoxime proxetil) is a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections.
Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: probenecid (for gout), “blood thinners” (e.g., warfarin), any other antibiotics. Diabetics should be aware this medication may cause false positive urine glucose tests. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about alternative ways to monitor your sugar levels. This drug may interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills. Discuss using other methods of birth control with your doctor. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Vantin side effects
Vantin medication may cause stomach upset, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, and headache. If they continue or become severe, inform your doctor promptly. Other side effects reported with this medication include anxiety, insomnia and dizziness. Inform your doctor if any of these effects occur. Unlikely to occur but report promptly: fever, easy bleeding or bruising, a change in the amount of urine, seizures. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: difficulty breathing, skin rash, hives, itching.
