Maxaquin
Maxaquin (generic name: Lomefloxacin) medication is an antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections.
Before taking Maxaquin, tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drugs you are taking, especially: other antibiotics, warfarin, cyclosporine, quinapril, didanosine, vitamins/minerals (e.g., magnesium, aluminum, iron, zinc), antacids, sucralfate, bismuth subsalicylate. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Maxaquin possible side effects
Maxaquin medication may cause stomach upset, loss of appetite, change in taste, loose stools, nausea, headache or dizziness during the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these symptoms persist or become severe, inform your doctor. Report new pain or tenderness (tendonitis) in arms or legs promptly. If you develop diarrhea while taking this medication, notify your doctor. Do not take any nonprescription medication to treat the diarrhea without first consulting your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: tremors, chest pain, restlessness, nightmares, vision changes, mental/mood changes, ringing in the ears, seizures. This medication may infrequently cause drowsiness. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, fever, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
